I think this is totally the way to mow the lawn! Although, I too, don't have to mow it. But with all of the global warming and knowing that it's the small things that make a big difference, I think this is something I would "invest" in. Of course if I ever own my acres and acres, it would make for a very long day.
I say we should minimize the grass and the obligatory mowing. Plant stuff that is more productive than grass and spend the "mowing" time harvesting the planting or sitting in the shade of it.

My dream home includes a nice rectangle of grass for the kids to play on, and no grass anywhere else.
