Training Schedule

I pulled out a calendar and planned my runs now through race day. Now that I know what I'm looking at I'm only a little worried about it. :) Last week (well, three days of last week) I ran 2.5-3 miles. I'm going to run 3 miles monday-friday this week, and on saturday 5 miles. (I hope the weather is good, because 5 miles on a treadmill sounds boring.)

Next week I'll run 4 miles M-F and 6 miles on saturday.

The first week of march I'll run 4 miles M-F and 7 miles on saturday.

The second week of march I'll run 4 miles M-F and 8 on saturday.

The third week of march I'll run 5 miles M-F and 9 on saturday.

The fourth week of march I'll run 5 miles M-F and 10 on saturday.

The next week I'll run 5 miles M-F and 13 on saturday.

The second week of april I'll run 5 miles M-F and 6-8 miles on saturday.

The week of April 13th I'll run 4/3/4/3/3 with the BIG Race on saturday.

Typing it all out makes me a little worried. But hopefully I'll be ready, and not over train and injure myself. May- you interested in coming out for some of the longer runs (or the short ones)? We could run on the legacy trail, if it would stop snowing! For the short runs I'm staying on the treadmill, but treadmills get awfully dull after so many miles.

Sounds like a good plan! You have some rest days scheduled in there though?? You can train adequately on 3-4 days of running. Take it from a girl who got stress fractures in her shin - rest is important!

Thanks Adam.

Charlotte- I'm taking sundays off, but I have no problem with taking a week day off as well if I'm feeling like I need more rest. (how much were you running when you got stress fractures?) Maybe I'll do yoga on thursdays or something instead of running that day...

M.A. I wish I had an indoor track to run on. 3 miles on the treadmill just about does me in. I'm hoping the weather gets nice enough that I can start running outside soon.

I don't know if it matters if you've been running for a while, or just getting started, but I know that Wayne only runs every other day and seems to do o.k. on his runs. HOWEVER, he only does half-marathons now AND he runs for approx 5 miles on those runs, occasionally 8.

I too am looking forward to warmer/running weather. If it ever gets warm enough I like to go to the jogging park here in town with my kids and jogging stroller. We'll have to do it sometime, although I don't think I'll be able to keep up with you. :)

I've finally hit a point where I no longer feel horribly sore after running, so I'm feeling like if I take an extra day off (like wednesdays or thursdays) that it won't impact my training.

Today was my last 3 mile run for awhile. Tomorrow I'm going to try 5 (yikes) and next week it will be 4 miles all week.
